I have a lot of knowledge on how to accomplish that, but it's a huge amount of work to implement. The editor can already do a lot, but it has an ambitious roadmap leading up to fully custom maps from scratch.

Note that you need to install Unity to use this editor:įor additional help and feedback, it's highly recommended you join the modding discord: The actual release for the editor is here. Please read the entire thing before attempting to use the editor: The repository and Readme for the editor can be found here. You can see that maps and assets can be fully imported and visualized, and you can modify every single aspect of the map format-even if we haven't figured out what some fields do yet. There's still a bit of work until that's possible, but in its current state the editor is capable of fully editing existing maps and placing new enemies, objects, and NPCs in the map making mods like Daughters of Ash fully possible in DS3. Wanting to open up DS modding even more, I set out to make a visual based level editor capable of making brand new levels and areas from scratch.

Mods like Daughters of Ash were made with this method.

Some familiar with Dark Souls modding will know that map modding for Dark Souls 1 has technically been possible for a while with Wulf's MSBEdit or Meowmaritus' Map Vessel, but these are spreadsheet based editors that require manually typing in coordinates with no good way to visualize the enemy or object placement.

The project is a full Unity-based visual map editor for DS1, DS3, and even Bloodborne because why not. Well I had a new project that I've been developing and testing in private for the past few months, and today I decided it's at a point for the first public release. I'm Katalash, and some may remember me for my past Dark Souls work such as importing a Bloodborne map into DS3 PC, or releasing a new model viewer.
